[USA] How to get certified as a New Zealand MLT!

2020.09.21 17:52 Talkahuano [USA] How to get certified as a New Zealand MLT!

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot for posting this, but it's good info, so here's what I did.
I am certified as MLS(ASCP) in the United States. I did not qualify for my equivalent degree in New Zealand. They have the Technician and Scientist designations just like we do. I qualified as technician.
First, go to: https://www.mscouncil.org.nz/
Make an account. Have about $400 ready. Here are the documents you have to submit through the website:
A certified copy of your qualifications.
Evidence of 2 years full time employment Evidence of name change if applicable
A record of criminal convictions notice from every country in which you have resided for more than one year from the age of 16. The document must be an original and must be issued within 3 months prior to the date of your application. Criminal check certificates issued by a third party will not be accepted. (I did an FBI background check for about $20 thru the post office)
Academic transcript of medical laboratory science course (I had this notarized)
Certified copy of Healthcare and the Treaty of Waitangi learning module certificate (this is $40 online)
Curriculum Vitae
Evidence of current registration status (I sent ASCP and state licensure verifications)
IELTS results certificate (not necessary if you are born in USA or other English speaking country)
Letter of Good Standing from overseas board/authority (my licensure verification for the state included this)
One passport-style photograph signed with your usual signature and certified to be a true likeness of yourself (stating your name) by a referee or a Justice of the Peace on the reverse.
Copy of your clinical log book - I had the MLS program secretary send this
1 x Certificate of Standing and Experience (personal) – this is a letter of recommendation
1 x Certificate of Standing and Experience (professional) – also a letter of recommendation
A copy of the full course curriculum (in English) for the qualification programme you undertook – I spent about 6 hours tying up summaries of every single class I took in college, with special attention to classes taken for the med lab science degree, as well as a copy of my transcript, and got them all stamped by my university registrar.
Please provide a copy of your full course syllabus, relevant to your years of study. You may need to request this from your educational institution. This includes:
o The year(s) the enclosed curriculum information relates to
o Number of years it takes to gain this qualification
o Subjects studied
o Identification of compulsory and optional subjects
o Details of self-directed learning opportunities
o How students gain clinical experience
o Subject names and the topics studied within each subject area
o The learning outcomes and level of study for the student in each subject area
o The number of credits/hours of study required for each subject area
o Clinical work experience o Clinical tutorials
o Time spent in clinical practice
o Record of clinical work
o Self-evaluation of clinical competency and experience
o Supervision of students during clinical practice
Once you have all those documents, you upload them to their website, pay the money, and wait. They will contact you if they need anything clarified. After about 3 months, I had my MLT certificate.
Please note: New Zealand requires histology. I took a histology refresher course through SAIT in Alberta, Canada, online, to meet this requirement since I was applying for the Scientist level cert. I do not know if certification as MLT is possible without a course in histology. You may have to contact the council to find out (I had already taken it for a Canadian application).
Also note: New Zealand's borders are closed. They are not taking job applicants from abroad, and they are not processing any visa applications - you cannot even attempt applying for a visa right now. I tried. Wait until they open their borders to complete this process.

2020.07.29 16:16 HeadToToes Have been watching old kannada movies in lockdown as I started to miss going out in the city & here are my reviews or opinions on movies I watched. - part 6

Operation Nakshatra - ThrilleMystery - 2.5/5 - Available on Prime
Operation nakshatra is a mystery thriller that tries to punch above its weight. Movie features a ton of characters who pop up on screen & suddenly take over the story line throughout its runtime to keep the mystery going, which for a nuanced viewer will feel gimmicky. Movie stars Aditi prabhudeva & Yagna shetty in pivotal roles & other array of character actors who all play caricaturish roles as plot doesn't demand much acting prowess. Plot revolves around a business tycoon Srikanta, played well be Deepak shetty, & his family. Aditi prabhudeva, his daughter falls in love with a gym instructor, which causes a rift within the family as her lover has to prove his worth to her father by doubling his fortune in a month. Till then movie hits all the cliches to form an underdog love story among class divides & will have you yawning for the most part at how cliched the start is, from here onwards it takes a turn with unexpected events shocking the viewer, as story unfolds with a twist revealed every 5 minutes or so, the final explanation although cohesive, will also make you question the sanity of characters & piss-poor decision making on their part. Its one of those movies which rely on extremely dumb decisions & over the top co-incidences to make the mystery work. I wouldn't call it a waste of your time but the way movie undermines its viewers capability to deduce & expects viewer to gloss over the stupidity of the plot is too demanding for a mystery movie.
Punda Prachanda - Action - 2/5 - Available on Youtube
Only reason to watch this movie is to watch couple of charismatic actors, Ramesh & Shankar nag share screen-space as brothers. Both these actors are adored by viewers & watching them bounce off each other is a treat. However, the experience is marred by Shankar nag being dubbed by someone else, due to his unfortunate demise during shooting & by inexperienced direction of the movie to make use of the talent at its disposal. Ramesh & Shankarnag, are well meaning youngsters who dedicate their time for betterment of society as they dish out their own brand of justice to help the needy. They do so in comical ways that's funny only because Ramesh & Shankarnag inject their Charisma & enthusiasm into it. Shruthi & Vanitha vasu plays the romantic interest for lead actors & both are placed just to add the Oomph factor. Movie picks up steam as duo encounters drug peddlers which then takes them go face to face with drug mafia leaders, played by Jai jagdeesh & Dheerendra gopal, who are criminally underused. The tussle, which gets personal, is entertaining as they plot around these mafias pitting one against another, escalating their rivalry. Movie as it gets entertaining is also marred by several scenes that just seem out of place & incompetent, every time you see a bit of quality it gets overshadowed by a misplaced scene & dialogues. There is a scene where a villain gets mauled by dogs which is comically shot instead of being fear inducing & then they do it once more again. Such poor decisions & incompetence makes it a tough watch. No matter how much you adore the lead pair & how catchy hamsalekha songs is, the movie is below average for its well paced script & is brilliant at patches only.
Vasantha poornima - Drama - 2.5/5 - Available on Youtube
Vasantha poornima stars Amabarish, Priyanka, Balakrishna & SushmaVeer. Its a wholesome family movie which has a very pleasing first half or so. Ambarish plays a role of a famous Doctor, with Sushmaveer his sister, & Priyanka falls head over heels in love with him after a few co-incidental meetings. Priyanka with her cute, lovable & quirky antiques carries the movie in the start, while Ambarish & co appears to be sleepwalking through their roles. Priyanka emulates Malashree in her acting & sometimes watching her alongside unhealthily obese Amabrish makes it uncomfortable. The contrast of young & beautiful actress next to a much older & obese actor is grating. Love story depicted between Priyanka & Ambarish which is intended to be comical & quirky, appears to be toxic but thanks to cute as a button priyanka you will just flow with it. Movie picks pace as it enters the final phase with Ambarish opposing the marriage of his sister with Balakrishna, a dancer, who has fell into unfortunate circumstances. The Climax scene is a much powerful one, despite of being how improbable it is. As Amabrish & Balakrishna flex their muscles in acting movie goes from 0 to 100 & sudden change in tone grasps the viewer in. Despite how eye-rollingly wholesome the earlier part was the climax makes you invested in the movie as you get eager & eager to see it end well for all involved. It seems like entire movie is written around the Climax, with even lead actor Ambarish flexing his muscles only for the later part of movie. Overall a good family watch, while Priyanka as an actress will keep you glued, a gripping climax will keep you on edge.
Rangamahal rahasya - HorroThriller - 3/5 Available on Youtube
Rangamahal rahasya is a 1970s thriller movie that surprisingly still holds good for a watch. Movie stars Srinath, Uday kumar, Bharati,Narasimharaju & B V Radha in lead roles. Titular Rangamahal is an abandoned guest house which is infamous for its haunting, wherein every midnight the house is plagued with unexplained noises, footsteps & ghost sightings. This is further amplified as a smuggler & cop are found dead under suspicious circumstances with their bodies missing on second look. With this established, we have all of our leads placed in Rangamahal with an intention of uncovering the truth. They suffer the same fate as hauntings & unexplained events plague them causing a rift between each other, which then ends with a murder of one of their acquaintances. While the suspicion falls on all the leads as each had an axe to grind with the dead guy. Horror aspects of the movie makes sense in a nostalgic way as there doesn't seem to be any cop out in its depiction. While the plot & twists may seem dated with a Scooby-doo touch to it. However the confusion/experiences of the leads in Rangamahal which they suffer day after day seems genuine as even as a viewer you will be engrossed in it. The mystery surrounding the house & murder is palpable & doesn't lose its momentum as it suddenly enter the climax where the revelation upon revelation keeps you awed, along with some laughable set decisions/mechanics & amazing, atleast for me, costume choices.
French biryani - Comedy - 2.5/5 - Available on Prime
Danish sait's new effort French biryani fails is a mad cap comedy that tries to bind France & shivajinagar together in a drug deal gone wrong. Danish sait, Rangayana raghu & an array of capable actors star in this movie & each with a goal of making the situation as comedic as possible. There isn't a single minute of the movie that dedicates to plot but tries to add in as much as possible to make it as comedic as possible, every line, every character is ridiculed just to accommodate for puns & punchlines with a quirky background of Shivajinagar. Comedy & Horror movies are tough genres & is hard to execute them well. French biryani fails to balance story & comedy together. While plot is almost non-existent it balances it out with scenes that appears like an assortment of several skits throughout its runtime. While it expects scenes like France national anthem/Whatsapp video calls to resonate with viewer, lack of investment in characters & story makes it fall flat. Danish sait & Chota don are highlights of this movie where in both these characters entertain just with their mannerisms. Rangayana raghu overacts the hell out of his character. While crass dialogues keeps the laugh coming the lack of continuity with the scenes are jarring. The bar scene pops out of nowhere, dubai travel plot thread just jumps out & so on forcing you to just ignore the plot, which is an unforgiving crime for a cinema. While I expected the movie to be in same style as Humble politician nagaraj & Sakkath studio's loose connection, the expectations were definitely not met & falls well below the high standards set. It has laughs available but this novel effort fails as a movie due to lack of direction & poor decision to cram as many one-liners as possible to a non-existent story. Come to think of it the "France" part of the movie was a gimmick too as it could easily have been someone from mumbai, but the we couldnt have "prawns" jokes, johnny sins jokes & an incompetent heartfelt climax, well such sacrifice to include jokes instead of adding comic sequences to a straight forward story makes it a failed effort.
Inspector Vikram - Action - 3.5/5 - Available on Youtube
Inspector vikram directed by Dinesh baboo is a refreshingly good & an unique movie. Starring Shivrajkumar, kavya in lead roles movie breaks away from usual formula of story telling & instead takes an approach just chronicling the adventures of Inspector vikram, played by Shivaraj kumar. Shivaraj kumar as Inspector vikram is a daredevil carefree cop. He carries the movie alone with his carefree mannerisms all the while apprehending the criminals with ease. Although he is criticized by his superiors to change his childish ways, he smooth talks his way out of altercations with ease. Narrative follows Shivaraj on his day to day life depicted in a comical manner until he apprehends a criminal in Raja who dares him to escape from jail to meet his family. Then the movie shifts to cat & mouse game between Vikram & Raja as the movie takes is on a road trip to mysore. Dinesh baboo's refreshing narrative & vibrant, colorful cinematography carries the movie. Background music by Vijay anand hits the right notes as we are taken into a cinematic journey with Vikram. Kavya plays an adorable lead pair to Shivaraj & the couple looks adorable on screen. The movie is free of serious conflicts & achieves its goal of a slice of life narrative of a playful cop's daily life. Dialogues & running gags are well crafted & unlike many movies of 90s the movie is technically well made & makes use of its cinematic medium & stays as an another timeless classic from talented Dinesh baboo.

2020.01.20 00:11 Iamnotmichelleobama Do you ever get over the stares?

Hello everyone.
I've been in this sub for quite a while and for once, i'm the one having a question for my fellow out gaybros friends.
I'm in a relationship with a great man and i like to hold his hand while walking in the street. Yesterday, in a single afternoon of walking peacefully in the streets, we got stared at severals times (like "bad stares") and got verbally assault 2 times. (a guy looked at us and sait "yurk" loudy, another guy just said "you guys are gay" like it's an insult... you don't say mate -_- )
The thing is, it's been a full year we're dating and walking like this. And EACH TIME it happens it hurts. I think about thoses stupid, meaning less words again and again. I feel ashamed and guilty for putting my boyfriend throught all this, like it's my fault. I wanna beat the shit out of thoses guys. And at the same time it makes me feel insecure like if i were a fucking teenager and i'm a grown ass man (25).
My question is: does it get better? i mean, i live in France, one of the most gay friendly place on earth, but still, will i be feeling like this forever?
For my fellow gay friends from countries where they can't even walk in the street with their lover like that, you have all my support and love.

2019.07.30 05:34 raverinme Babel (バベル) - Rank 13 , 886644 Event Points.

Babel (バベル) - Rank 13 , 886644 Event Points.
Hello everyone, I am Rayvur and an ArisuP from Singapore.
I don't really show up to this reddit just as much, but now is one of those times where I'd like to share an experience that cost me alot of setbacks, and was an interesting journey from start to finish for a first time event runner.
I've always wanted to run an event from start to finish without being held back at all, and have been contemplating it since the first quarter of the year, finally I had the opportunity to do so for July's Atapon/Token event.
Seeing that its Summer in Japan, there's only one event in my mind that would have fit the criteria.
Natsu Koi -夏恋- is a song performed by Arisu, Syuko and Ryo in the Summer album from about two years back. As the rotation for season songs still is ongoing, and of course being summer time, I assumed this was the best case scenario for the token event. It also helped that theres Arisu, which complements the fact that she had not gotten an event card since Near to You in August 2016.
So with that said, there was prep work to do before running an event. Taking leave, having close to zero real-time commitment for a week give or take and learning how to actually run properly (instead of just playing songs for hours and hours straight without taking breaks).

Part 1 : Event T-2 till 4x

After Babel was announced, I was kind of bummed that it wasn't an Arisu event, but I kept my word and decided this would be the one opportunity in a really long time that I'd get the chance to run, and I had a gut feeling that Babel would sound really cool with Asuka and Shiki, so that was kind of a deal-breaker for me.
I had decided to have a tag-team system with a friend who does not play Starlight Stage, but happened to be grinding on Granblue Fantasy around the same time period, so he'd hop over to my place to stay for the first half of the event, whereas I'd spend a small fraction of time to do the same in the second half. Primarily we were to keep ourselves awake, and also to take care of each other irl as well.
Pre-event, I had 300+ stamina by having max stamina, spending one on eigyou and then drinking a +100, and using another eigyou to level up. Although that saved me time from having to refill, I spent that time fumbling in the menus.
It was mainly smooth sailing after that, except that I had fell asleep twice without an alarm for about 15 minutes each while my friend was resting, and the day after he had left my place, I prepared to sleep only to end up sleeping past my alarm and spending 2 hours instead of the intended 40 minutes. Panic struck and I strugged to play to make up for it, only to get stopped by Unplanned Maintenance.
Unplanned Maintenance (25/7 GMT+8 ~21:00 until 26/7 GMT+8 14:00) was a big plus and minus for me, it was good for everyone who was running as they could get sleep, and also recharge themselves so that they can enter the second half totally fine. After the maintenance, the duration of 4x was only a few hours's difference from the first half, so if they could withstand the first half its the same for the second.
However, those who were intending to farm tokens hours before 4x was up did not get the chance to and so you'd lose hours of grind compared to people who coincidentally had a high amount of tokens before the maintenance. I had about 3000 so I might have gotten a slight upperhand as it was burning period for the people around my rank.

Part 2 : 4x up until the end

With everyone freshened up, we all headed back into the grind on 4x mode, and everything was smooth sailing once again up until the weekend. The night prior to heading over to my friend's place, I had experienced several instances of falling asleep without any notice, and to save on money I decided to walk over to my friend's house which turned out to be the worst idea. I won't share what happened, but it had cost me alot of time, EP and ranks and possibly a trip to the hospital.
At this point I had been kicked out of Top 10, and with one or two slots left that gave me an opportunity to get back in, however even with playing with proper menu-ing, my gap kept increasing and I knew that I was not going to make it.
It did not help that some rankers had dropped below me only to pick up their pace and outpace me once again, and some rankers mention that they had overslept for 10 hours when I was hovering around 4 hours of total sleep at that point. -salt intensifies-
In the last few hours, my end goal changed from Rank 10 and below, into a point goal of 900000, I was reaching that point goal with about 20000 to go when the notice for the next announcement was revealed to be NATSU KOI, which was a big slap to the face. Around this timing I had gotten my current EP count and thought it was a nice number to end off with, and stuck to it.
I did not hit my 900000 goal, but I knew that I had the time and resources to do so.
I did not hit Rank 10 and below which wasn't an initial goal, since the idea was just to stay alive and play properly.
I had the jewels to continue, but with this announcement I decided that reserving the rest for my tantou's event was more important.

Part 3 : Results and Data

バベル / Babel, Rank 13 with 886644 Event Points, SS-ed before event ended

  • Jewels spent : 43486 + ~3000
  • Device : LG G7+ ThinQ w/ Snapdragon 845
  • PLvl : 242 > 262
  • Onegai! Cinderella (GRAND VERSION) Plays : ~1941
  • Kimiboku MASTER Plays : 8
  • Babel MASTER Plays : 1195
  • Babel MASTER+ Plays : 17 (with Full Combo!)
  • Total Sleep in Part 1 : 1 hour 45minutes (in 80 hours of gameplay)

  • (Bonus) dans l'obscurité with 101417 Event Points, mainly from 1.2x MM Lives on MLTD (yay for double event tiering?)
Fun fact about my rivals + T10 in this event:
  • Rank 1 (Fascinate 2nd)
  • Rank 2 (Supposedly a few people were rotating and playing this account, caused some drama on Twitter)
  • Rank 3 (Mikansei 2nd, Max Beat 3rd)
  • Rank 4 (Mikansei 7th)
  • Rank 5 (Crazy Crazy 9th, Pretty Liar 8th)
  • Rank 6 (Trinity Field 7th)
  • Rank 7 (Mikansei 4th, Max Beat 8th, Souyoku no Aria 11th, Saite 13th)
  • Rank 8 (Similarly first time event runner, also my rival for 10th place in the first half!)
  • Rank 9 (5 time double-digit runner, grats on the first single digit placement!)
  • Rank 10 (Takamari Climaxxx 8th)
  • Rank 11 (Hardcore fangrinder, constantly hosts M+ LP rooms)

Part 4 : Afterthoughts

Would I do this again? Yes with the given circumstances and without unexpected maintenance and end date change.
This was kind of done on a whim to see how far I can go with my own ability, after all I can't stay up longer than 24 hours on a normal day to day basis, and I've always wanted a high EP count for the lols.
However my event run really goes to show the difference in power between Android and iOS devices, so I think my future runs will only land me in the 2-digit margin.
Still feel kind of bummed that due to human mistakes I could've actually snuck into Top 10 on the first serious run, but I guess its just 20/20 for a first timer eh. There's nothing else to say other than to suck thumb and try harder and take care of my fingers for Natsu Koi Groove event that starts in a few days.

I am pretty thankful of those who were around to show support towards the run, and trying to keep me awake as well. Big thanks to Lolicore, Hakua and my IRL friend Vulcy for that.
Inspiration from this run came from the other runners in the past 8 months who kind of taught me everything I needed to know about event running, big thanks to Honk for the motivation and reminders of my inefficiency at times, Zhu/AidoruRisemara for the tiering guide and resources for the event, and Sol as well for optimizing my Grand team!

With that being said, I'm looking forward to trying my best in my own Tantou's event, guess there really isn't any rest for the weak eh?
Good luck to my fellow producers in Natsu Koi!

Using the setlists available during the 5th LIVE here, I've looked at the non-single songs and determined (1) the idols with the most participation, and (2) the pairs of idols who worked the most together during the 5th LIVE. All in all, there were 168 songs where more than one idol participated, and there were 67 seiyuu. But who came out on top?

Next 11 slots are filled by the rest of CINPRO (appearing 13-18 times among non-single songs). Three out of the four season 2 senpai arcs (Kaede, Nana, Mika) appear next; Natsuki only has 4 songs so far. Among Project Krone (besides Rin and Anya), Kanade, Karen, Frederica, Syuko, Nao, and Fumika are all at 6 songs each. Among those with recent voices, it's actually Nono that has currently the most songs at 4 - surprising given her nature.

2017.06.09 17:14 JohnFalkirk Random funny story

This is not from the committeeverse, just a fun little story I had the idea for after a few beers last night. The next Committeeverse update should be out about midway through next week.
The Wizard
Now we all know that humans are somewhat unique in that to date they are the only sapient species with no ability to utilize the fundimental force of magic. The assorted species of the galaxy had still welcomed them into the community in [2239] though as their technical aptness seemed to more than make up for their magical ineptness. They did end up being the butts of many jokes however, many of which I told over and over. That is until I met Timothy.
I was a graduate student at Core Academy, a prestigeous magical institution as you are no doubt aware. As part of the master's program in pyromancy I was obligated to serve as a TA in a number of classes. I had just finished a lecture, which I'd had to give due to the Professor Umbertofosco's unplanned absence thanks to a nasty case of the flu. The class itself was a freshman interspecies mystical relations class IMYR 104. The subject of the day's lecture had indeed been humans namely how, due to their lack of magical aptitude, they were effectively "Deaf, Dumb, and Blind" in comparrison to a graduate wizard.
I had just concluded the lecture iself when a loud cough came from the back of the lecture hall. A human, wearing a ridiculous pointy hat stood there.
"Well that's not very nice" he said.
Now seeing a human at Core Academy was unusual. They were not in any way barred from enrolling, but as the academy itself offers degrees only in the various magical fields, there was no point to a human becoming a student there. They were biologically incapable of learning what we had to teach, but here was this student, this human student, with a completed late enrollment form saying that he was supposed to be taking IMYR 104.
I asked his name and he sait that "Some dared to call him Tim" or some nonsense such as that.
I, in some degree of annoyance, and perhaps if I'm honest a bit of arrogance, asked why in the void's name he wanted to study magic when we all knew he couldn't use it. He smirked and replied that contrary to expectations he was, in fact, an accomplished wizard.
I laughed, as did most of the class.
In response he invited us all to follow him and he would prove it.
He lead us to the freshman mystical excersize room where a number of the bearing bounce target machines sat. BBT machines are essential for basic magical practice. The combination of physical interface, in the form of rapid moving paddles controlled by buttons, targets to aim for along a slope, and an iron bearing to attempt to manipulate with budding magical talents forms a key exercise for young mages in training. Also they are rather entertaining and beating existing scores on the machines is a point of pride for many aspiring and accomplished mages alike.
Tim pointed them out, and said that he could trounce anyone here on one of the machines. We all laught and challenged him to prove it.
What we witnessed could best be described as a work of art.
He walked up to the first BBT and inserted two tokens. He stood like a statue, like he was part of the machine. It was as if he felt each bumper, and every play was clean. He played by pure intuition. We watched every target fall. This "deaf dumb and blind" human sure played one mean ball.
Our mandibles dropped. with a single of his three plays he'd alread beaten the top score on the machine, which had been set by General Dringrini Symsyn Phd. The head of the Military Magic department. But the human wasn't done.
He played like there were no distractions. He ignored the buzzers and the bells. No lights nor spells could flash him. I'd swear he could play by sense of smell. Every ball earned him a replay, and not once did we see him fall. That "deaf dumb and blind" human, played one hell of a mean game of ball.
He didn't stop with one machine. He went on to trounce, often by an order of magnitude the high scores on every machine. Including my favorite one, which I had proudly held the high score on since my junior year.
When he finally finished. I asked him how, without magic, as all of us were more than capable of seeing, if not believing, that he had not used any, he managed to pull off such impressive scores. He replied.
"these BBT machines exist on Earth too. We call them pinball machines. As I said, I am a wizard. A pinball wizard."
I had to agree. That supposidly "deaf dumb and blind" human sure plays mean pinball

2016.06.15 15:46 greendude120 TLDR & Quotes From Multiple New Articles

A lot of the information coming out is more of the same but I've read through the articles and quoted the most interesting things that I felt was not talked about by other outlets.
Sailing solo is entirely possible but cooperative experience won't be compromised to help solo-play.
At the same time, Rare isn’t going to fudge things to help a single-person vessel take on a larger opponent. “It’s better to play with other people, but I don’t mean that mechanically. It makes sense in the world,” he said. “If I have a bigger group, I can control a bigger ship. I can man more cannons. I can repair at the same time that someone is on the wheel. You’re gonna be a little bit more limited when you’re on your own, but not because we’re limiting players.”
Source
Spin ship using anchor
Meanwhile on the top deck we pass the enemy ship and the developer on our team suggests we drop the anchor for a fast turn and we do so which spins our ship around readying our port cannons on the enemy in range and we blast away again.
Source
There is unreleased footage of game executives playing SoT and they steal from a crewmember some treasure/loot.
Unlike the noble games journalist, the natural instinct of your average video game exec is to wait until some treasure is found and then stab all their shipmates in the back. Apparently Spencer and co. didn’t know they were being filmed, and we watch as they all conspire against Kudo Tsunoda and throw him overboard after taking back their treasure from him. Unfortunately, Microsoft won’t release the footage to the public but it was fascinating to see them all, including Phil Harrison, having just as much fun with the game as we did.
Source
High likely hood of a chat system similar to rocket league with quick sentences you can use like "LoweRaise sails!" "fire!". Remember the game is on consoles too and they don't have keyboards so when they say 'secondary system' they must mean something like that.
‘We will definitely have a secondary communication system, that means we’re not 100% reliant on voice’, we’re told. ‘We do believe the game is stronger with voice, and we want to create an experience that encourages people to talk. And part of that bonding with the crew, is to try and remove any element of toxicity, or any reason for people to start getting angry with each other.’
Source
Confirmation at last that this is more than just arena pirate game. RPG elements like Quests and Story confirmed and freedom to skip them.
Structurally, the game will have quests and story elements like any other game, although you’re equally free to just sail around and do whatever you want.
A beta is being worked on and will be available much earlier than game release. It will not be a "one-week-before-release beta".
To be honest, any kind of story aspect doesn’t seem to have been a priority at this stage of development, and instead Rare have been concentrating on getting the core experience working and getting a beta up and running. ‘Because it’s so dependent on real players we want to get it into people’s hands as soon as possible. We want to release a beta as soon as we can, but not a one-week-before-release beta, a proper beta where we can start observing how people play, and get their feedback.’
Source
Game will NOT be Free2Play
That means there’s no release date yet for the game, and also no business model. Although Rare are adamant that Sea Of Thieves will not be free-to-play.
Source
The demo build has seemingly no visual bugs and the graphics run smoothly at steady framerate. The game performance is already solid so hopefully that means beta in a few months.
it ran extremely well on the Xbox One as well. Out of the hour total I played, I never saw a frame rate issue or graphical bug any time.
Source
Game will be similar to The Division with instance-based partying. So the game is not a truly open world MMO (like WoW).
My Translation (I speak French): It is multiplayer but that does not mean it is an MMO. It is actually a game where you can group up with others to share an experience among friends. We understand that the game shares strong similarities with The Division in the way it is played.
Source
The game runs at 60 FPS on PC and 30 on Xbox. Unconfirmed if Xbox scorpio will allow for higher FPS.
My Translation: The demo build ran at 60 FPS on PC and the developer told us the quality would be just as good on Xbox but at 30 FPS instead. We asked if this would be any different on Scorpio but they were unable to comment.
Source
PVE isn't on land only. You will be able to fight a Kraken on sea
Rare promises that the game will offer an "emergent experience with limitless adventures" with players able to explore rich worlds and fight fantastic creatures such as a kraken.

2015.12.22 05:25 Cornealeus What is known so far. [Warning - Huge]

What happened to WhisperCrystal? to find out, we must first know who she is. I will put forth the evidence that i find in the order that i find it.

Not sure if it's really her though. Reply · Belle R. 3 months ago +Rawer Interesting! When I typed in "Mirte Dufour" in Google search, another Youtube account showed up. Click on that account, go to the video titled, "I Don't Want to Hurt No More". The screen shot image on that video is one of the same ones used in WhisperCrystal's videos! That MIGHT be her. Reply · Belle R. 3 months ago (edited) +Rawer Also, when you type Mirte Dufour in Facebook, click on the name. There's a video posted yesterday (Sept. 8) titled, "Heartbeats, Done by Whispercrystal and Bryan Lord." It really could be her. Reply · 1 myhorsecharlie 3 months ago +Belle R. I really think that is her. I looked at the page of the guy she collaborated on the song with and he even responds to her.. wow.. at least we know now that she probably isn't dead. I still wonder why she just stopped making videos. :( Reply · 3 Living Artifact 3 months ago +myhorsecharlie Unless proven wrong for any reason (which would have to come from WhisperCrystal herself), I highly suspect she got just "sick & tired" of all those who trolled her account to the point where she stopped making videos. Which is utmost unfortunate because I respected her ASMR works, she always did a wonderful job with the crystal clear sound effects. Reply · 2 SpiritualMarauder 1 month ago +Belle R. I think she is Mirte!!! I just recently looked up her Facebook, nothing. I typed in WhisperCrystal in to Facebook, and nothing! Im pretty sure that she's alive. And she probably some how found out that you guys were on to her!!!
(Please note: I have excluded irrelevent comments)
When i did a google search on the 20th of December 2015, or 2015-12-15 for Mirte Dufour I found a youtube channel; a vimeo channel; a MySpace page; a Blogger profile; and a Google+ page;
The youtube channel was Meren2109 with the name Mirte Dufour. The about page contained a link the the Google+ profile for Mirte Dufour. The channel had 3 sunscribers with 2,964. The Related Channels side bar contained one channel, WhisperCrystal. It contained 5 videos all from over 3 years ago. they were: "Kamuflasjefylla Vs Kil'jaeden" posted on April 20, 2009. "Youtube Test" posted on August 2, 2009. "Insane in the Membrane" posted on August 2, 2009. "A Final Dream" posted on January 24, 2012. "Walk Me Home" posted on March 24, 2012. "[ARCHLORD] Invisible Mount" posted on December 2, 2012. None of the videos contained any talking, only music. Some of the videos referenced Mandy Moore. The video "A Final Dream" has a picture of a drawn women on a pink background. At the beginning the word Mirte is flashed on the screen.
The vimeo channel contained 106 videos, the most recent being from 3 months ago. My impression is that they will all be videos of music, because the few i saw appeared to be music videos, but not of the same artists.
The MySpace page consisted of a picture of a woman in full body profile leaning against a wall in black and white. The location was listed as Antwerpen, Vlaams Gewest, Belgium. It was connected to 10 other profiles: Christian Johannesen Rasmus Nielsen KayDee Lalouline Editions NUDEX [Buy "Hot Shot" on iTunes] GREGO Em prod Joni Sheila Xaman-Ek SMTO
The Blogger profile was started on March 2009, with 391 profile views. 'My Blogs' had the words "Warcraft Gold" witch was linked to the blog goldlimit.blogspot.com
The Google+ profile was the same as the one linked by the youtube channel. It had no posts. It had 4 followers, and 1,947 views. The about page said that her Gender was Female The page said that there were 4 people in her circles, but it only showed three: Miguel Herrera Ögren Erika Prezioso Mirte Dufour There was a link to the youtube channel Meren2109.
The blog goldlimit.blogspot had the header "WARCRAFT GOLD" with only a single post from March 8, 2009. The date was written in dutch, as well as the footer of the page, and the sidebar, and links. The actual post was in english. It was titled "What is this Warcraft Formula? Does it Work?" There were two links to the Blogger Profile. This is the entire post:
ZONDAG 8 MAART 2009 What is this Warcraft Formula? Does it Work? I heard something about a new product the other day from a few friends of mine that spent a lot of time sorting through all the new guide content out there. They had stumbled across what they said was a monthly eBook membership site – I didn’t believe them at first because I couldn’t see how a website could produce an eBook every month. There just isn’t that much to talk about in World of Warcraft. But, I stopped by the site to check it out and make sure it wasn’t a scam. Too many times, these big promising sites will say more than they can deliver. Here’s what I found out. First of all, the pedigree here is pretty solid. The authors of the guides on Warcraft Formula are Brad Johnson (of Warcraft Millionaire fame) and T Dub Sanders (of PvP Bible and WotLK Secrets fame). The two are a great pair, bringing in gold making and PvP – the two most popular sources of information and guides for the game – and they pretty much have all the resources you could need to be effective in the game. The premise of the site is pretty simple. You pay an upfront fee to get their Fast Track Action Plan – a guide that shows you how to put a solid account together. The guide is actually a lot more useful than it sounds at first look – it shows you how to pick a character but it also shows you which mods to get, how to join a guide, where to level and farm gold, and how to start in PvP and raiding. It’s a solid walkthrough of all the basics of the game for a beginner or a casual veteran. After this, you get the actual product, a monthly newsletter that comes complete with details on PvP in the current month, new changes to the game, questions from readers and just about any kind of info on the game you can imagine from class changes to whatever else might come up. There are a ton of different topics already covered in the first four issues (with PvP covered in every issue). In the end, you get a solid starter guide and brand new, time sensitive content each month from two of the best guide writers in WoW for a pretty low monthly price. It’s hard to believe, but this is a great deal and even better than my friends told me about. I’ll be subscribing to my own monthly membership, just to see where Brad and T Dub take it. When I looked up "what happened to WhisperCrystal" on 2015-12-21, one post sticks out. It is from the huffington post, and is titled "Carlisle Brigham Dead: 29-Year-Old Woman Found Fatally Injured In The Lower East Side (UPDATE)" It is between "WhisperCrystal - YouTube" and ASMR Interviews: Cutebunny992 - ASMRYouReady" The article doesn't contain the word "Whisper", "Crystal", or "Youtube" It was written on 2012-8-27, and updated on 2012-8-29. This was a Monday. It says she died "on Monday" which either means 2012-8-20, or 2012-8-27. It says the woman who died, Carlise Brigham, lived in New York, on the Lower East Side. There are five links in the article. Here is the entire article:

Rdr, gta 5, COD hacks/tuts 2 months ago So when WhisperCrystal stopped uploading it was April 22nd. When that lady Carlisle Brigham died it was August 27th. If WhisperCrystal was Carlisle Brigham, there was a 4 month period of no videos until she passed away, which 4 months of no uploading would be a weird occasion for her. So that means she is probably alive, and she recently deleted her Facebook. She had a husband and supposedly he didn't liked he making these videos and WhisperCrystal was being stalked, and weirdos were trying to find her. So there's a big possibility she's alive, she just decided to stop uploading because of her husband and the weirdos.
WhisperCrystals last video post was on April 22, 2012, or 2012-04-22. The Huffington Post article was on 2012-08-27. It appears that WhisperCrystal uploaded a video at least every month, but I have not gone through all the videos to confirm this.
On every video WhisperCrystal has a link to a Facebook page. This is the link http://on.fb.me/fTprqz This page is currently down, and has been down for an unknown amount of time. It has been down for at least 4 months according to a comment on the video "#10 - Whisper A Relaxation Journey Through the Senses"

JHProductions211 2 years ago I think that the Scottish Accent is terrible! I have seen films that are made/set in Scotland like The Water Horse and Brave and the accents I could hardly understand! WaternSpirit 4 years ago Scotland is dear to me. My dads side comes from Yorkshire, England and my mothers Scotland. My Aunt Dot is from Edinburgh. WhisperCrystal 4 years ago in reply to Alan Anderson @Aldoo97 You are so lucky! :) x Alan Anderson 4 years ago I from Edinburgh :) WhisperCrystal 4 years ago @whisperingthistle Lol thank you so much!! Well, I haven't been to Glasgow, but I am hoping to do the trip sometime... I have heard this same claim from a couple others, so one must investigate ;) In all honestly though, Scotland is so beautiful that I truly believe that I will be in awe no matter which part I go to :) Thanks again for your comment and kind words! :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to KittieDanger @KittieDanger Thank you very much! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed the pictures! :) Yes, you should definitely visit Scotland, it is a beautiful country with so many amazing places to go to. The people are very friendly and welcoming too :) I haven't been to many places in US yet. Just mostly Chicago and Midwest. I hope to visit more places in the coming year ie Florida, New York, Vegas ;D It's a beautiful country and has a lot of great places to visit :) Thanks again for your comment! :) x KittieDanger 5 years ago Beautiful slide show! You take gorgeous pics! I have always wanted to visit Scotland and Loch Ness, yes partly because I want to see the Loch Ness Monster, lol! I usually listen to the whisper videos to relax, but yours I also got "educated" while being relaxed at the same time! Awesome! What part of the US have you been to? WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to ThesilentWhisper1 @ThesilentWhisper1 Aw, Edinburgh is nice! In fact it is very close to my heart as I have been there many times now, and always because of a very important or special event... Your city is full of history and I love the architecture. The people are very polite and friendly... I would love to see more of Scotland too, I have been told to visit Shetland which I am looking into :) Thanks again for the comment! :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to Tylerduhhh @Tylerduhhh Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it :) Apart from Scotland (Edinburgh and Highlands, Loch Ness and several other lakes), I have been to the US, England (where I live now), Turkey, Italy, Germany, France, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, Egypt, Switzerland...to name a few lol. I hope to be travelling more in the US as I am planning on moving over there pretty soon :) It would be awesome to go on a cross country road trip. You have a beautiful country and it's very big! :) x Tylerduhhh 5 years ago great video :) ive always wanted to go to scotland it looks so beautiful. where all have you travelled to?? WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS Yes, I can't believe only 2 weeks to go now! Unfortunately I have the bad habit of not packing until the last day.... So not really looking forward to that bit lol. But the rest should be okay hopefully. I actually do enjoy the whole "travelling" experience as well, and looking forward to watching some new releases on the plane...lol. Watching the clouds is quite fun too :) Never gone skiing but would love to :) I do enjoy ice-skating though and can't wait to do that this year :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS I will be moving to the mid-west :) Apparently it is going to get pretty cold with lots of snowfall :) I guess I like the idea because I never really lived in a very cold country. If it snows, this will be my first proper white Christmas, just like it should be. I am really looking forward to getting my Christmas tree when I come there in about 2 weeks time now :) Canada always sounded appealing because of the beautiful nature and cool weather :) I can't wait to visit over there! :D x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS I know what you mean. Even if I find the most amazing place in the world I don't think I can just settle there forever. I just have to travel and see more of this beautiful world. I must say we share the same feeling about visiting hot places. I have lived in places that went over 122 degrees (50 C degree), but I can never get use to that and always preferred cooler places. Having said that I never experienced real freezing cold. So we shall see how it goes this winter in the US :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS lol... Well, I haven't been to China ;D I would love to go there someday. Oh and Nepal.. So far east is a-calling me :D I haven't been to South America either. I would love to see Machu Picchu and Lost City of the Incas :) Tikal and Mayan pyramids.. Easter Island would be pretty awesome :) I want to go to Greece and see the Acropolis in Athens and Temple of Olympian Zeus :D Btw, you seem like you live in a beautiful place already. Grasslands and mountains.. Just wow. Lucky you!! :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to MyWhisperBlossom @MyWhisperBlossom Awesome! There are so many places I want to go to. I would love to see Canada too, I hear all about it's nature, beautiful cities and how it's one of the most pleasant and peaceful places to live in :) I want to see some of your big cities, and really would love to go to Niagara Falls :D I have been to Egypt when I was younger, it was magnificent!! But I would love to go back.. The pyramids were breathtaking!!! :) x MyWhisperBlossom 5 years ago in reply to WhisperCrystal @WhisperCrystal Yeah Its Awesome. I'll send you a PM :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS That's not even half the places I have lived in... lol. Initially we moved a lot because of my father's job.. But eventually I got the travelling bug, and just can't stop from travelling to all these beautiful countries and finding out more about their history, people and culture etc... :) The reason for moving to the US is mainly my husband who is American. We just bought a house over there, so looks like will be settling down "for now" lol. Hoping to move next year spring time :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to MyWhisperBlossom @MyWhisperBlossom What?!? WOW! That is one of the most amazing origins I have ever heard!! Awesome! You have the blood of Braveheart! :D You should be SO proud.. That really is incredable :) My husband apparently has bloodlines from Scotland from a Knight who was a lord of a town over there. But don't know much more than that... And as for mine, I come from such a mixed background as my family moved a lot over the years, so I don't think I can ever track down my whole family tree. Shame :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to 444CURTIS @444CURTIS lol Yes! As I said, there will be more soon.. I just can't see myself not visiting these beautiful places rich with glorious history :) I am very glad you enjoyed it :) I have a mixed background to say the least lol. I have mainly Turkish origins, and some Greek, Italian and Norwegian.. Most of my relatives are still in Turkey, and I lived there too and speak the language fluently.. but I lived in the UK the longest.. Soon will be moving to the US.. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. As ever, thanks for listening and your nice comment! :) x WhisperCrystal 5 years ago in reply to Whisper Mixer @WhisperMixer I had heard of The Shetland but never really checked out any pictures before. Just went onto the site you mentioned... It looks like heaven on earth!!! Seriously, can't believe at how beautiful the landscapes are, and the coast is just... Basically, I would give everything to experience sunset at a place like that! :) Thanks so much for mentioning it... Next time I am heading up North, I will definately make plans to visit this exquisitely beautiful place :) x Whisper Mixer 5 years ago If you like scenery, you would love The Shetland Islands. kungfumatts 5 months ago She appears to be Carlisle Brigham, who died 3 years ago from a fatal accident. I have found articles of the incident that contain pictures of her when she was still alive. Please the note the striking similarity of her YouTube profile pic with pictures of her found in such articles. Also note that she was married to a man with Portuguese heritage who traveled to Europe for work, and she lived in New York (explains shift in/out of developed accent from being married to a foreigner(?) ). She seemed very outgoing with her love for yachting, being with friends and social drinking, and even worked at the American Museum of Natural History in New York (explains her vast video topics, knowledge, creativity, and stunning choice of video images). These are just theories, but a good theories nonetheless. Take a look at the articles below to read in detail. Hopefully, someday, we will all get closure on what happened to WhisperCrystal who shared her healing voice to us all. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/27/carlisle-brigham-dead_n_1834665.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/29/carlisle-brigham-death-ruled-accident_n_1839028.html http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/08/28/me-socialite-carlisle-brighams-death-was-accidental/ http://www.thelodownny.com/leslog/2012/08/death-of-carlisle-brigham-in-orchard-street-building-apparently-accidental.html Show less Reply · 2 Hide replies WhisperOcean 5 months ago +kungfumatts Thanks for the info. But are you sure this is WC? There seems to be a difference between her profile pic and the pictures in the articles. The eyes look different somehow. I always thought WC's eyes were blue, but I something still seems different to me... Reply · 1 kungfumatts 5 months ago I agree with you, WhisperOcean. One cannot say if this is really her due to that fact that we did not even see one single photo of her on YouTube except her profile picture, which appears to be some caricature, in my opinion. But since the profile pic does centre around her eyes, I compared that to the new article photos taking into consideration that she might have worn makeup too. When you add that to her time of disappearance and time of the death in the article, there is a connection. Then I cross-referenced her video themes, personal style, and such to the background info stated in the articles. There's too much to ignore. So, I stand by my findings. I'm glad that my post has caught your attention, because I am a fan of WhisperCrystal. I hope this helped her name and your ASMR community. Read more Reply · K 5 months ago (edited) +kungfumatts I have to respond to end these claims. From the date she first uploaded, she lived in England but has traveled and stayed around the eastern hemisphere for most of her life. United Arab Emirates, India, Egypt, Turkey and more. Her father was not hinted to be a budget director, describing her dad as 'Bruce Willis in Armageddon' who was resourced and relocated to different countries which came about her unique, challenging upbringing. However she did meet an American man, got married and bought a house in the USA whilst working and living in the United Kingdom. There is no evidence to suggest she had citizenship in America but she did travel to and from the United Kingdom when she could. I firmly believe she is a computer programmer and spoken of being married a year before Carlisle Brigham ever made her way down the aisle. 2013.06.18 21:25 jonathan22tu 132+ Teams in 132+ Days: USC Trojans

University of Southern California (USC) Pacific-12 Conference
Year Founded: 1880
Location: Los Angeles, California
Total Attendance: 38,010 (approx. 17,000 undergrad and 21,000 grad)
Nickname: Trojans
So why name your team after glorious warriors who were defeated in battle? It makes sense if you put USC into the historical context of the region: modern California first developed around the Bay Area. When USC was founded in 1880, LA was a backwater with a population of 20,000. For some perspective, here's a rare aerial balloon photo of LA from 1887 (north is roughly to the left); USC was founded on the southern edge of (town off the photo to the right) next to a fair ground called “Agricultural Park” (now Exposition Park). Meanwhile, despite being founded 8 years after USC, Stanford jumped ahead in every category because it was closer to the wealth and population. This gap translated into sports: although USC established itself as the most respectable regional program in contests between Oxy, Pomona, Whittier, Caltech and Loyola, it would routinely get crushed by Stanford and Cal.
During those early years the school had unofficial names like the Fighting Methodists or Wesleyans (which is odd because the school was never particularly religious and dropped it altogether not long into its history, more on that later). Finally, in 1912 (during a stretch where all California schools dropped football for rugby), a reporter assigned to cover an intercollegiate track meet noted that the USC players were competing hard despite an obvious lack of financial resources in a noble battle for the sake of sport. He said they “fought like Trojans.” The name quickly stuck. Soon afterward, Los Angeles and USC quickly grew up in size and relative power, and the Bay Area and their schools continue to hate both to this day. As Beano Cook once put it: Stanford and Cal want to beat each other, but they hate USC. Interestingly, the feeling isn't mutual. If you want to understand LA, the Big Lebowski and LA Story captured the blase feeling about anything... Dude, let's go bowling.
Mascot:
Official: Traveler – USC's mascot is actually the white horse... a Trojan horse, if you will, named after Robert E. Lee's trusty steed that rides around the stadium pregame and after touchdowns. Before the track was removed from the LA Coliseum, Traveler would gallop around the track. When Al Davis had the stadium renovated into something more NFL-friendly, they removed the track causing Traveler to run along a much more crowded sideline. Honestly_ was at the 2000 game where that galloping tradition ended as Traveler knocked down a totally unwitting guy on the sideline (the guy was okay). Now the horse has spotters who run ahead of him and clear a path, but it's still not quite as majestic as it used to be.
But Traveler was only the mascot since 1961... what was the USC mascot before that? A dog. But not just any dog: George Tirebiter. In the 1940s, students noticed a mangy stray chasing cars on a street through campus. They adopted it and the student body made it a mascot. Despite a penchant for biting tires, opposing mascots and a few people, folks were willing to look past his faults. He was even dognapped and drugged a few times by UCLA students. Alas, Tirebiter I got even more ferocious over time so he was forcibly retired, only to die a year later doing what he loved the most—chasing cars (such is the life of a true hunter).
"QamvIS Hegh qaq law' torvIS yIn qaq puS!"
He was followed by several other Tirebiters until the school went with the horse. Still, despite his 50+ year absence, he remains an icon at USC, and his cool statue, complete with a stack of tires, has a prominent spot on campus, on the same street he used to chase cars (which is now pedestrian-only).
Unofficial: Tommy Trojan, as represented by the Trojan Shrine at the heart of campus. The statue is the campus icon. Just don't try to pose like him: he's impossibly flexing every muscle in his body at once. Due to Bruin scheming, Tommy is usually mummified in duct tape during UCLA week, but occasionally they strike during off weeks. Meanwhile, the band's drum major is also decked out in an elaborate uniform and conducts the band with a sword. He plants his sword at the center of the field before every game, to the roar of the crowd.
Cheerleaders USC Song Girls!!! USC doesn't have cheerleaders, we have a dance squad. Here are the 2012 photos from their famed, annual summer Tahoe adventure. Because what's better than a Song Girl? A wet Song Girl. Meanwhile: we used to also have the all-male Yell Leaders (super-preppy guys that could walk on their hands), but they were phased out for a generic co-ed “Spirit Leaders” that deserve no further mention.
Band: The Spirit Of Troy, aka The Trojan Marching Band, aka "The Greatest Marching Band In The History Of The Universe". A contingent of the band has performed at every USC football game, home and away, since 1987, and the entire band always travels to South Bend for Notre Dame. This is Hollywood's college band, having appeared in a variety of shows and movies, ranging from the Naked Gun, to playing Alabama's band in Forrest Gump, to Glee. The band has played multiple Academy Awards (my favorite was “Blame Canada” in 2000), multiple Grammys (with Outkast and Radiohead), on American Idol, at Coachella and travels internationally every other year. The band famously had a platinum record in 1979 when Fleetwood Mac asked them to perform and record Tusk (official music video); it went platinum again in a later, live recording also with the USC band. They also make up the house band for the Lakers thanks to late-alum/owner Jerry Buss.
Fight Song: Fight On. If you play us, you'll hear it... a lot. The lyrics and tune are catchy, and it was used by American soldiers during the Pacific Theater of WWII.
We're also known by our opponents for Tribute to Troy, better known as “This is the only song we know!” (fans love it). I think the best way to hear the fight song and the almost Ben Hur-like sound of our band is to hear it as they play it at the beginning of every football game: combined as Fanfare, Tribute To Troy, and Fight On. Fanfare makes you want to grab a sword and charge.
We have two other signature songs that deserve mention: Conquest was actually written as the main theme of the 1947 epic film the Captain from Castile, for which the score was nominated for an Academy Award. During the pauses at the beginning of the song the fans all yell “Beat... the [opposing team's nickname]!” and start imitating the trumpets at the end. The other is Tusk, which was originally created and performed by Fleetwood Mac and the USC band for the eponymous album. It's best known for the chant “U-C-L-A SUCKS!” Part of the reason is while the UCLA fight song Sons of Westwood actually mentions USC, our fight song was written before they were relevant at sports so Tusk filled the gap.
First Season: 1888
Stadium: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (93,607 capacity): The only stadium to host a combined: 2 Olympiads ('32 & '84), Super Bowl, World Series, Democratic Convention (Kennedy accepted the nomination here), Papal Visit, porn movie(s?), Hollywood movies, numerous GameDay and All State commercials, monster truck rallies, X-Games, international FIFA exhibition games not involving the US (hey, it's LA!), and much, much more. The Olympic cauldron/torch is lit at the beginning of the fourth quarter at all USC games.
Stadium Location: Los Angeles, California, right across the street from campus in Exposition Park. Now you can understand how odd it was when UCLA had it as their home stadium. The stadium is technically a public building, and until very recently was directly managed by the Coliseum Commission, made up of an even split of City/County/State appointees. After years of bungling, corruption (cough-cough, Bernard Parks), and delayed renovation in hopes of luring a new NFL team to do it all for them, USC lawyers skillfully wrested the Master Lease away from the Commission and into the hands of the university. Improvements are coming. Exposition Park also has a lot of cool museums and the popular rose garden. The neighboring Sports Arena used to be the home of the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and USC arena sports until everyone moved out--USC now plays out of the Galen Center (most recently seen as the site of Microsoft's infamous E3 conference).
All-time Record: 779-313-54 (.703)
Conference Championships: 38
Bowl Games: 31-16 (24-9 Rose Bowl record)
National Titles (11 claimed): 1928, 1931, 1932, 1939, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003, 2004*
*BCS and FWAA titles vacated; sorry Auburn, we kept the AP trophy
Rivals:
Notre Dame – USC's greatest rival, most respected foe, historical brother-in-arms, yada yada yada. The entire nation gets shovelfuls of this stuff every odd October and even November... and USC fans love it. This really is an amazing rivalry, one that makes little geographic sense but has produced more national titles, Heisman winners and illegal forward motion assists than any other. Notre Dame leads the series 44-34, with the longest non-losing streak in the rivalry (13-0-1 between 1983-96). The Trojans are currently on a one game losing streak to the Irish. The winner of this game gets the Jeweled Shillelagh, which kind of looks like a knotted emerald and ruby penis (they're actually on the second trophy after the first filled). Little known fact: Brent Musburger has twice collapsed from a priapism (1999, 2005) while calling this game, and each stadium's press box has since been retrofitted with blood pumps to make sure the flow from the venerated announcer's brain to his nethers is even and uninterrupted.
UCLA – The largest intra-city FBS rivalry, the intensity of this match-up is somewhat mitigated by everyone having to constantly text each other to see which freeway to take to the game. Separated by a mere 11 miles and a solid hour of traffic, these two schools embody everything you could ask for in a dichotomy: private vs. public, rich vs. slightly less rich (you may be surprised which is which), red vs. blue, one is good at football and one is UCLA, etc. The Bruins enjoyed national and local relevance under Terry Donahue (1975-96) and Bob Toledo (1996-2002) as well as an eight game winning streak vs. the Trojans during the nineties, but USC leads the series 46-29-7. After two tumultuous coaching changes UCLA is currently enjoying a one game winning streak over USC under new coach Jim Mora. The two school shared the same home stadium until 1983, when UCLA moved to the Rose Bowl which is even farther away from its campus (USC remains closer to both stadiums). The winner of this match up gets the Victory Bell, which gets gonged obnoxiously and joyously by the victor during the rivalry game before it's rolled away into fratish secrecy. Both programs have recently agreed to a return to pre-1983 tradition by wearing their home colors for the annual tilt, making this the handsomest non-Saban rivalry in the nation. The rivalry extends to all sports, and even non-sports.
Stanford – Unbeknownst to the rest of the nation but knownst to both the current generation of Trojans and anyone who lived prior to 2002, this is an ugly, bitter hatred. Stanford is USC's oldest rival and, during the early and middle parts of the twentieth century, enjoyed regional and national success that pitted it against the West Coast's premier power in USC. That rivalry was renewed with 2007's epic upset at the hands of Jim Harbaugh's Cardinal, somehow using a quarterback named Tavita Pritchard – who is not a lesbian ceramics professor – to defeat a Trojans squad that was favored by 837 points. Harbaugh would go on to hand USC it's worse loss in 43 years by going for two in a 55-21 beatdown. Stanford has won the last five of six against USC, two of them in memorably late fashion. The two bands genuinely hate each other. The victor of this rivalry receives Smugness +1.
[“The Weekender”, takes places each year when USC plays Stanford or Cal up north, and includes a major rally in Union Square in downtown San Francisco. Alumni in the Bay Area are joined by throngs of SoCal fans and students who make the trip up. This tradition between the three schools (plus UCLA) is what allowed the schools to lobby and stay in the permanent yearly rotation despite being in different divisions... again, where there's a will, there's a way when it comes to scheduling your rivals]
Cal – The Bears enjoyed a mid-2000s renaissance, nearly winning the Pac-10, a berth to the Rose Bowl and a national title appearance like, 17 times, but stupid Texas something something. No, seriously, there was a rivalry here under since departed Jeff Tedford, with Cal playing USC nail bitingly close in a four year span with national implications in each game, the highlight of which was the 23-19 USC win on their way to the 2004 national title. The intensity of this rivalry was rekindled after the Trojans' 2003 triple overtime loss in Strawberry Canyon, Cal's last win in the series. This is an old match up dating back to 1915, but it is thoroughly lopsided with USC leading the series 64-29-5. Although it's not really relevant here's Marshawn Lynch riding a cart.
2012 Season, aka The Horror
Record: 7-6 (21-7 loss to Georgia Tech in 2012 Sun Bowl)
Coach: Lane Kiffin
“Look, Brohams, I know how last season looked but just don't fucking start with me, m'kay?”
2012 Roster
Key Players:
  • Matt Barkley (Sr. QB) - In many ways, Barkley did more for USC than any other quarterback in the school's long history. He holds the USC and Pac-12 career records for touchdowns (116 passing, 122 total), passing yards (12,237), completions (1,001), attempts (1,562) and total offense (12,214). He has beautiful golden hair and does charity work because he's a good person and could totally boff your sister but wouldn't because he's a gentleman, and also his AMAs are pretty good. And although he never won a Heisman or a national championship you'd be hard pressed to find a USC fan who didn't hold Barkley in the highest regard. As a true freshman starter he helmed the Trojans through a shocking change from Pete Carroll to Kiffin, providing hope and oddly humorous immobility within the pocket during a tenure of pre-sanctions uncertainty and then terrible, soul destroying certainty. Barkley turned down a probable first round draft selection to return for his senior season in anticipation of a special campaign, which was special but not in that kind of way. Although we are all regretful he didn't get the pay day he deserved, Barkley is probably too busy smiling at a sunflower to care.
  • Matt Barkley's Shoulder (RS Sr.) - Though the season didn't rest entirely on MB7's Shoulder, in the end it was The Shoulder that decided the season. A disastrous campaign could have been salvaged with season ending wins against UCLA and Notre Dame, continuing a winning streak and knocking the Irish out of the title game, respectively. Instead we got an unceremonious and frankly horrifying look at the future as RS Fr. QB Max Wittek took the stage and quickly took a big fat dump, followed by an even bigger, fatter dump. Little did we know that it was The Shoulder that wielded the Toilet Paper, and for four wonderful years we were protected by His Throwing Arm Mandate. But now The Shoulder is gone, and with it the Bum Wad. Please ignore any confusing metaphors.
  • Marqise Lee (So. WR) - He was not the most heralded. He was, in fact, the least heralded of a remarkable group of Gardena Serra HS wide receivers recruited to USC starting in 2010. Now Lee has shattered the single season Pac-12 receiving record with his 1,721 yards in 2012 winning him the Belitnikoff Award. Lane Kiffin designed every manner of screen imaginable to get his star receiver the ball and probably would have had Lee hike the ball to himself if it were legal. Lee will enter the 2013 season as the face of the team and on a short list of "most dynamic" players in the nation, which is to say he'll be a Heisman hopeful until they give it to a QB or RB. But that new award for Most Similar To A Cyborg Gazelle? Lee's going to win that.
  • Robert Woods (Jr. WR) - In many way Woods is the perfect symbol of the 2012 season. A consensus All-American in 2011 with a conference record 111 receptions for 15 touchdowns and 1,292 yards, he was on the short list for the Belitnikoff and everyone's preseason All-America. He finished 2012 with 76 receptions for 11 touchdowns and 846 yards, good for second team Pac-12. It was an otherwise good year but fell far short of expectations, prompting Woods to declare early for the NFL draft. When asked how much Lee's ascent factored into his decision, Woods said "Not much. I mean if the coaches wanted to keep me another year they would have probably got me the ball..." His comments echoed fans' misgivings over Kiffin's play calling and proved to be a fitting and sad coda for what was widely believed to be the start of one of the greatest offensive careers in USC history.

The Greats
Greatest Games:
  • 1967 vs. #1 UCLA, "The Game Of The Century" - Gary Beban won the Heisman despite one of the most famous runs in college football history as OJ Simpson and the Trojans beat their city rivals 21-20 to gain a berth to the Rose Bowl and an eventual national championship. Simpson wins the Heisman the following year.
  • 1970 vs. #16 Alabama - Trojan FB Sam "Bam" Cunningham ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns to lead USC past an all-white Alabama team in Birmingham. All six USC touchdowns were scored by African-American players. Bear Bryant had previously flown to LAX to briefly meet with John McKay and secure the game. The Bear knew what he wanted and the loss reportedly gave him the ammunition to speed up the full integration of his team, leading to the slightly overwrought, possibly mythical quote: "Sam Cunningham did more to integrate Alabama in 60 minutes than Martin Luther King did in 20 years."
  • 1974 vs. #5 Notre Dame, "The Comeback" - Down 24 points to Notre Dame, Anthony "Irish Killer" Davis caught a touchdown pass from current AD Pat Haden with ten seconds left in the first half to make the score 24-6. Davis took the second half kickoff and raced to a touchdown, setting off a barrage of 55 unanswered points as USC defeated Notre Dame 55-24 in one of the wildest games in the history of the Coliseum. Bring up this game if you know an Irish fan older than fifty. With Traveler galloping around the track for seemingly the entire second half, Keith Jackson commented: "I'll tell you one thing that game did: It made Ara Parseghian hate all white horses."
  • 2005 vs. #9 Notre Dame, "The Bush Push Game" - Billed as The Greatest Team Ever In The History Of Adverbs by ESPN, the Trojans entered South Bend faced with Charlie And The Touchdown Factory (self-dubbed) and his green jerseys. Trailing 31-28, USC was faced with a 4th-and-9 from its own 26 with 1:32 remaining. USC QB Matt Leinart audibled to WR Dwayne Jarrett for a 61-yard fade. A few plays later Leinart ran out of bounds as the time ticked off to zero and the fans stormed the field, only to be brought back as officials put seven seconds back on the clock. Carroll was shown on national television signalling for the spike as Leinart snapped the ball on a QB sneak. Made entirely of elbows and well sculpted hair, he was stopped short by the Irish defensive front only to be pushed into the endzone by Reggie Bush in what was later declared an illegal maneuver. An entire nation laughed, threw up in their mouths a little and prepared for another week of ESPN fawning.
  • 2006 Rose Bowl vs. #2 Texas - In perhaps the greatest game ever played and certainly one of the most memorable national championships, Vince Young and the Longhorns prevailed 41-38 over #1 USC in a contest that saw multiple lead changes, several controversial referee decisions and a spirit devouring 4th-and-2 defensive stand by Texas to give them an opportunity to win the game, allowing Vince Young to lope past USC's secondary with 17 seconds left. The teams entered the game as season long #1 and #2, and Young's performance is the greatest bowl game effort in the history of history. Joke's on Texas though because that game doesn't count.
Greatest Plays:
  • OJ's 64-yard run, see above
  • Haden-to-Diggs - QB Pat Haden completes a two point conversion to WR Shelton Diggs to beat Ohio State 18-17 in the 1975 Rose Bowl to win a share of the national championship.
  • Antuan Simmons' between the legs interception return - This high steppin' SOB somehow managed to pick off UCLA's Cory Paus in the first quarter of a game USC needed to win to qualify for a bowl game in Carroll's first year. The return of the Trojans' swagger after a long and depressing absence.
  • Leinart's reverse TD seals USC's first title in a quarter of a century:
  • USC scores 28 points on 8 plays for 246 yards in 1:28 - The epitome of the best offense in USC history, the Trojans ended its game vs. Arkansas in the first quarter. “Curses!”
  • The Bush Push, see above
Greatest Players: 80 consensus All-Americans; 38 people in the College Football HOF; 475 NFL Draft picks; and a couple of football players who won Academy Awards. There are a lot of people to pick from.
  • RB Mike Garrett (1965 Heisman)
  • RB OJ Simpson (1968 Heisman) – hey, he went crazy long after he left campus.
  • RB Charles White (1979 Heisman)
  • RB Marcus Allen (1981 Heisman)
  • QB Carson Palmer (2002 Heisman)
  • QB Matt Leinart (2004 Heisman)
  • RB Reggie Bush (2005 Heisman, since vacated) ಠ_ಠ
"Vacated--what does that mean, Heisie?"
"It means he didn't fucking listen to me, Johnny. I told him: pay off that criminal asshole to shut up, but he's like 'oh, people will disrespect me' and I told him 'you idiot you're a top-3 NFL Draft Pick, ain't no one gonna care' but he was too busy shagging a Kardashian to listen to sense."
"Wait... I can bang a Kardashian with one of these?"
"Argh! ^ ...just remember to wear a rubber this time, Johnny.
  • DB Ronnie Lott
  • OL Anthony Munoz
  • WR Lynn Swann
  • OL Bruce Matthews (you might have heard of his nephew, Clay)
  • DB Troy Polamalu
  • LB Junior Seau
Greatest Coaches:
  • Howard Jones (1925–1940) – 1928, 1931, 1932 and 1939 national titles, 121–36–13 overall. Jones put USC football on the national map. The Notre Dame rivalry started under his watch as his “Thundering Herd” squads smashed through schedules. He was known for being non-nonsense, and even bland, as he lived and breathed football. He died suddenly of a heart attack at age 55—who knows what he could've accomplished had that not happened.
  • John McKay (1960-1975) - 1962, 1967, 1972 and 1974 national titles, 127-40-8 overall record. Unlike Jones, McKay was witty off the field and known for his quotes. Following the 51–0 loss to Notre Dame in 1966, "I told my team it doesn't matter. There are 750 million people in China who don't even know this game was played. The next day, a guy called me from China and asked, 'What happened, Coach?'" Following a game in 1967 in which OJ Simpson carried 30 times, McKay was asked "Why are you giving the ball to Simpson so often?" He replied, "Why not? It's not heavy, and he doesn't belong to a union."
  • Pete Carroll (2000-09) - 2003 and 2004 national titles, 97-19 overall record. Carroll was notably USC's fourth choice for the position after Mike Bellotti, Dennis Erickson, and Mike Riley all turned it down. Why? Because the pressure to succeed at moribund USC was so intense that it seemed like a no-win situation. Yet Carroll proved it could be done. His run at USC was nothing short of tremendous: the energy, passion, humor, etc. Here is the best article ever written about his tenure. It's hard to believe Carroll or anyone thought USC was going to get hit with the sheer force the NCAA opted to use. He always had an eye on the NFL, because his life was about “win forever” and after failing twice there was no way he wasn't going to take another swipe at the The League, but more on his own terms. He has seriously beautiful hair.
Traditions
  • The Victory Sign. USC fans love to give the V-symbol and pump their arms from the elbow.
  • "Fight On!" is a battle cry among Trojans, written and spoken everywhere.
  • No Names: USC players have never worn names on their jerseys. Those non alum a-holes wearing the fake #32 jerseys with "Simpson" on the back? We hate them too.
  • Band concerts: The band plays a free concert before the game (at away games it's sometimes only allowed at the private alumni gathering). On campus it's done in front of our main auditorium and the band then leads the march to the Coliseum. After the game the band plays a post-game concert in the stadium, including opposing stadiums. If it isn't clear already, being in the USC band isn't a bad thing.
  • Kicking the flagpoles: At the edge of campus, right before we cross the street to Expo Park, there are three flagpoles. Fans kick the bases for luck as they march by.
  • 55: Traditionally given to only the most deserving linebacker, and sometimes not handed out at all. Famous #55s include Willie McGinest and Junior Seau.

  • SoCal Spellout: A raucous chant that is getting harder and harder to understand because everyone gets so excited yelling it. S-O-U-T-H-E-R-N... C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A... SouTHERN... Califoooooooornia!
  • 4th quarter lighting of the torch: Before the start of the 4th quarter of every USC home game, the Olympic Torch above the Peristyle end of the Coliseum is lit.
  • Tailback U: The Trojans have been known as Tailback U after featuring five Heisman Trophy winners at the position in addition to numerous All-Americans.

Local Dining:
Where to begin, where to begin... this list will include the good options next to campus and some USC-friendly spots in LA.
  • Tommy's (Wikipedia article): The original location of local chain Original Tommy's isn't near campus but is a classic among Trojans. Chili Burgers and Chili Fries. There are no seats, just tables you can stand at with plenty of paper towels. It's open 24 hours, so the original shack has no doors or windows. They bought the entire block so they can move work to another kitchen in the neighboring building whenever one or the other needs to be cleaned. They also bought the lots across the street for more parking. This is a place where they say you will rub elbows with everyone from politicians to prisoners... and over the years I did. If you go, order a Chili Cheese Fries, it's heaven.
  • 901 Bar & Grill (website): The “Nine-O” is the USC neighborhood bar. Why go to th...wha...what were we talking about?
  • Chano's (website): Right by campus, Chano's has been a go-to spot for all sorts of great, greasy Mexican food sold at the counter or drive-through. All the seating is outside.
  • Philippe's (Wikipedia article): Inventor of the French Dip sandwich. Popular with USC fans and Dodger fans. Again, not near campus but heavily associated. Get a French Dip, double dipped, with their home made coleslaw (request it wet). The apple pie is solid. The mustard is kick-ass strong, but good on the sandwich.
  • El Cholo (website): This authentic Mexican restaurant opened in 1923 next to the Coliseum, but then moved to Western Blvd (again, a drive); but it has deep roots with USC and used to offer a discount for students on weekdays. The food and margaritas here are dynamite.
  • La Barca: Another popular Mexican restaurant not too far from campus. Has a very popular happy hour.
  • Bacon-wrapped hot dog carts: While Roy Choi's Kogi trucks are widely regarded as the grandfathers of the food truck revolution that has taken the falafel you never ate and turned it into the organic kimchee falafel with avocado crema you are definitely now not eating, we know the truth. Before and after every game at the Coliseum roving bands of Hispanic owned carts – literally shopping carts jury rigged with sterno cans and baking sheets serving as flat top – supply a heavily drunken populace with the sweet, poop-inducing ambroisia of the Gods: the bacon wrapped hot dog covered in onions, mayo and, if you're lucky, some kind of spice out of a nondescript can. The police shut down as many as they can but, like the American spirit glorious and free, the bacon dog cart will never die. Unless somebody gets botulism or salmonella, in which case we'll die. But not the carts.
Random Trivia
  • Trojan athletes have won 287 medals at the Olympic games (135 golds, 87 silvers and 65 bronzes), more than any other university. If USC were a country, it would rank 12th in most Olympic gold medals (and that includes the Winter Games, which we barely participate in). USC led the number of medals and golds in the 2012 Olympics among schools as well.
  • USC leads the total number of NFL Draft picks with 479; rival Notre Dame is a very close second
  • USC has a winning record against all other members of the Pac-12.
  • Female USC teams are called the Women of Troy. The two most famous are basketball greats Cheryl Miller and Lisa Leslie.
  • USC has won 120 team national championships, 98 of which are NCAA National Championships. Our men's teams are the most dominant: with the highest number of men's titles of any schools and 303 individual NCAA men's titles. Of those teams, 26 championships in track and field, 19 in tennis, 12 in baseball, 9 in swimming and diving, 7 in water polo.
  • USC's first All-American (1925), Brice Taylor, earned the accolades despite not having a left hand. He was later the head coach of the Southern from 1928 to 1931, and was instrumental in starting would become the Bayou Classic against rival Grambling.
  • The Super Fan: Although every school has their fan who has a streak of games, none anywhere come close to Giles Pellerin, who attended 797 consecutive USC football games home and away (including Tokyo) over a period of 73 years until his death at age 91. , He saw the Trojans go 532-225-40, win nine national championships, and play under ten different head coaches. He died in the same place he watched his first game: the Rose Bowl.
  • USC has the world's best film school, established in 1929 with the MPAA. The admissions rate for the school hovers under 5%. Since 1973, at least one alumnus of the school has been nominated for an Academy Award annually, totaling 256 nominations and 78 wins. Also since 1973, at least one alum has been nominated for the Emmy Award annually, totalling 473 nominations and 119 wins. The top 17 grossing films of all time have had an SCA graduate in a key creative position. Steven Spielberg has donated a ton of money and he was denied admission twice. George Lucas donated $175m to the school in 2006, leading to a new complex that replaced the old one which was anchored by... the Lucas Building. USC student films have won the Palme d’Or and Academy Awards. The faculty is similarly well regarded.
  • USC has the most International Students of any American university. USC maintains offices in Brazil, China (Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong), India, Korea, Mexico, and Taiwan.
